This exile newspaper emerged out of the two parallel publications Freedom and Defend Tibet’s Freedom. When the Dalai Lama intervened in 1965, both publications were merged. It first came out on March 9, 1965 with about 100 copies. This publication still exists today. The main purpose of the publication was to inform the new arrivals to India and also Tibetans inside Tibet.
