Monthly Review of the Emissary for the Propagation of Values on the Western Frontier (Xi chui xian hua shi gong shu yue kan)

The Panchen Lama’s office produced this newsletter from Nanjing, Xining, or Xiangride from 1935 until his death in 1937. Due to power struggles with the Dalai Lama, the Panchen Lama had taken to exile in 1923, seeking support from the Kuomintang. They welcomed him in the hope to propagate nationalist ideas through him. This newsletter was produced in the Panchen Lamas’ capacity of an emissary of the Kuomintang, in Tibetan, Mongolian and Chinese language. Main editor was Liu Jiaju (aka Kelsang Chojor) of the Panchen Lama’s Office. Back in the late 1920s, he had helped Kelsang Tsering in editing the Mongolian Tibetan Weekly Newspaper.
